Jenn’s Obesession Of The Week: Death Cab
Yeah, the week is almost over. I know I am a little late with this one, but I have had some…. technical difficulties. Electronic and otherwise. So, although a little late, I present to you my Obsession Of The Week: Death Cab For Cutie. I’ll admit, for years, I was SO not on board with the whole Death Cab thing. That was music for vegan girls that wore cardigans, smelled like thrift stores and had numerous cats. Then I watched the documentary that Current did on them, and FELL IN LOVE. Mostly with Chris Walla, but the entire band grabbed my little heart strings and pulled them right on over to Team Nerd. The talent, the use of big words, the poetry, the underlying rock-out elements…. all of it had me signed up as a fan. I went back and gave a lot of their music another listen and decided they were alright. THEN- I got my hands on a copy of the new EP. That was it, the deal was sealed. It became the soundtrack to every day. It is really Death Cab at their best (in my opinion)…
I went to go see them at the Hollywood Bowl on Sunday and was blessed to have been graced with tickets in a box, about 15 rows away from the stage. Words cannot even begin to describe how AMAZING the show was. The clip below is of the final song, Transatlanticism, done with a full orchestra and with fireworks behind the stage. Keep in mind, I didnt film this, and my seats were much closer, so you can imagine how absolutely breathtaking it was. I’m one of those that cries at concerts. I just get so overwhelmed by the fact people are so talented and so many people love them. So emo, I know. But, I have never cried so fucking hard at a concert as I did on Sunday. I was blown away. There are just no words for how rad they were…. so watch this:
And if you can find the Current TV documentary, watch it!!! Mine was sadly erased from my cable long ago. Thank you Death Cab for being so amazing. Seriously.
